Lake WOW at the Heart
of the Inner Retreat -
Supporting Quotation #4
By Steven S. Showers, Editor

here for more info      In response to my proposal that we require, as the primary qualification for the next Spiritual Leader of Church Universal and Triumphant, the demonstrated capacity to Walk On Water, and that we build a small lake (Lake WOW) at the Heart of the Inner Retreat, upon which that ability can be demonstrated to the gathered congregation, as I have noted before, sincerely held doubts have been communicated to me concerning the question of whether the demonstration of such an ability would represent genuine evidence of Christ Attainment, and whether such a qualification would be one that the Ascended Masters would approve.

It appears to me, that the following statement made by the Ascended Master Kuthumi in 1971 goes a long way to putting both of these doubts to rest:

In the eleventh hour men build cathedrals of human accomplishment when they should be building cathedrals of divine accomplishment. The stones of their labors are as difficult to handle today as were the stones of the temples built by artisans and priests of God in days of old; but the results are entirely different. Because their labors are centered in the human self, they have builded upon the sand of which our Lord spoke; and one day they shall see that their labors were in vain. <1>

The floods have come as they have been predicted floods of permissiveness, of inexcusable hatred, of the accentuation of human misery, and of an almost fanatical dedication to the mania of the ego. Yet our Lord stands the same today as he did two thousand years ago. He can pass through the walls, disappear from their midst, walk upon the water and say, "Be not afraid, it is I." But the nations of the world have forgotten the depth of his blazing Reality, which has not diminished through the centuries; and those who have seen his glory know that it has taken on even greater lustre.

(Beloved Kuthumi, Pearls of Wisdom, Vol. 14 No. 16, April 18, 1971)

This statement by the Master Kuthumi addresses the concern, expressed by many, over the possibility that the act of walking on water may not be a manifestation of genuine Christ Attainment.

In the first paragraph, which directly precedes the paragraph in which a reference is made to walking on the water, the Master points out that there is a difference between human accomplishment, and divine accomplishment, and that difference is important, and that it would be very wise for the individual to choose divine accomplishment over human accomplishment every time.

After making this distinction, the Master goes on in the next paragraph to list a few of the divine accomplishments of the Ascended Master Jesus Christ. Of Jesus, he says, "He can pass through the walls, disappear from their midst, walk upon the water and say, "Be not afraid, it is I."

Among this list of divine accomplishments is walking on the water.

Now, when the Master expresses in one paragraph an interest in his students making a distinction between human accomplishments on the one hand, and divine accomplishments on the other, he is not going to turn around and confuse his students, in the very next paragraph, by mixing up a human accomplishment (walking on water) within a list of other divine accomplishments.

You can be certain therefore, that within this context, when the Master Kuthumi gives us a list of divine accomplishments, those accomplishments cannot be confused with human accomplishments. In other words, those human accomplishments that are categorized by the Master as "vain", cannot be confused with those accomplishments that are associated with timeless and eternal achievements. By including the act of walking on the water within a list of the accomplishments of Jesus Christ, we can be certain that the Master is referring to a divine accomplishment, an accomplishment associated with the genuine Christ Attainment exhibited by Jesus Christ before his resurrection, and before his ascension.

Moreover, when Beloved Kuthumi says that " ... our Lord stands the same today as he did two thousand years ago," this has a special meaning for us when it comes to the issue of walking on the water. It means that the promise Jesus made 2000 years ago, is as valid today, as it was then: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." (St. John 14:12).

The more we reflect upon the words of the Ascended Masters with respect to this issue of walking on the water, the more we come to understand that this demonstration of Christ Attainment is not something that was expected of Jesus Christ alone, but by all those who choose, as Jesus did, to search for and to merge with the fullness of their Christ Identity. When we look at it in this way, it becomes ever more reasonable to expect that the Spiritual Leader of an Organization whose members are expected to exhibit this level of attainment, ought to be forerunner, and an example for all in this respect.

Remember: This Organization is THE Good Shepherd sent by God to lead the Nations into a Golden Age.

If anyone can think of a reason why this quotation by the Beloved Ascended Kuthumi should not be considered as another green light for the building of Lake WOW at the Heart of the Inner Retreat, please speak up, and make your case.
