Judging from the response to my idea concerning what ought to be the primary qualification for the next Spiritual leader of Church Universal and Triumphant, that being the demonstrated ability to walk on water, I can see that an additional statement on my part would be useful.

      Many people took my idea as a joke. And some went to considerable length to make a bigger joke out of it. Others thought I was being sarcastic, and chastised me for that. And then there was the other less charitable end of the spectrum epitomized by the person who said I had a brain the size of a peanut.

      I think this initial response can be explained by the fact that the essence of humor has to do with setting up a scenario in which the listener expects to hear something that fits within a conventional framework, but instead of hearing something within the framework of the expected, they get hit with something that is completely unexpected, and outside of that framework, though it is somehow intrinsically related, and this intrinsic relationship provides a pathway, just for a moment, that allows the consciousness to float out into an area of freedom outside of the box, and in this moment of flight, the human funny bone gets activated. It's that deep sense of instantaneous pleasure associated with experiencing that moment of freedom from the prison house of the intellect, that evokes a laugh.

      But in this case, after the laugh, instead of climbing back into the box, the soul needs to extend its thought out towards the radiant possibilities inherent in the Teachings of the Ascended Masters which reside completely outside of the box of the human intellect.

      Now, I will have to admit, that when the idea first came to me, I also got a good laugh out of it. I think I actually said, are you kidding? But the circumstance within which the idea came to me, made it impossible to dismiss. The circumstance within which this idea came to me forced me to extend my thought into that region of radiant possibility. And so, the more I thought about it, the more convinced I became that this was a good and useful idea.

      And therefore, I want to assure all of you, that in presenting this idea to you, that I did so out of a deep and profound conviction that it is a good idea, that it is a useful idea, that it is an idea that will bear good fruit for this organization.

      Of course, it would constitute a tremendous act of faith in the efficacy of the Teachings of the Ascended Masters, if the whole church body, and the leadership thereof, would throw themselves 100% behind this effort to provide a fitting venue within the Heart of the Inner Retreat, wherein the next spiritual leader of this church can demonstrate that capacity associated with genuine Christhood, which Jesus demonstrated, as it is recorded in the Gospels.

      I for one, do not think that it was any coincidence that the Hierarch of the Aquarian Age, the Ascended Master Saint Germain, would include a reference to exactly that ability (demonstrated by Jesus) in the very first paragraph of his work entitled, "Saint Germain on Alchemy", subtitled, "For the Adept in the Aquarian Age," as follows:

Two thousand years ago when Christ walked upon the waters of the Sea of Galilee, his demonstration was a manifestation of the natural law of levitation operating within an energy framework of cohesion, adhesion, and magnetism --- the very principles which make orbital flight possible. The light atoms composing the body of Christ absorbed at will an additional quantity of cosmic rays and spiritual substance whose kinship to physical light made his whole body light, thereby making it as easy for him to walk upon the sea as upon dry land.

His body was purely a ray of light shining upon the waters. The most dazzling conception of all was his ability to transfer this authority over energy to Peter, through the power of Peter's own vision of the Christ in radiant, illumined manifestation.

By taking his eyes temporarily from the Christ, however, Peter entered a human fear vibration and vortex which immediately densified his body, causing it to sink partially beneath the raging seas. The comforting hand of Christ, extending in pure love, reunited the alchemical tie; and the flow of spiritual energy through his hand raised Peter once again to safety.

      Was it the intent of the Master to poke fun at Jesus, or to make fun of the act of walking upon the water, by including a reference to Jesus's demonstrated ability in this regard? I don't think so. I think that Master intended to transfer to us, his deep respect for this demonstrated ability. And in this respect the message is clear. The Master intends for his students to be able to demonstrate that ability.

      It is true, and I am aware of the teaching by Mark and Elizabeth Prophet, that this demonstrated ability on the part of Jesus Christ to walk upon the water is symbolic of the adepts mastery of the personal and planetary emotional body. While this is obviously true, and quite logical, we must realize that the mastery of the emotional body is a by-product of uninterrupted communion with the individual God Presence, from whence this demonstrated capacity proceeds. And therefore, as the Master Saint Germain points out, this demonstration is not limited to that area of mastery. It goes beyond it.

      Now, some comments came back to me asserting that the false hierarchy could engineer such a demonstration. It is true that adepts of the left handed path have shown the ability to manipulate physical matter in various ways, and that these manipulations are not a sign of any amount of personal Christ-Mastery. Granted. But the demonstrated capacity to walk on water goes beyond the issue of manipulating physical matter. This goes to the complete transformation of the lower vehicles into a "ray of light" as the Master points out. And in this respect, I believe that what the Master Saint Germain says here, puts such arguments completely to rest. The Master says that "His body was purely a ray of light shining upon the waters." And he makes clear that this is the condition that must obtain if the Adept is to demonstrate the ability to walk upon the water. And so, it is very important to understand that the false hierarchy has no way of filling anybody's body with light. The only thing they have at their disposal is darkness, and as the Master points out, the effect of darkness on the body, is the densification of the body.

      And therefore, I believe it is safe to conclude that it is impossible to fake a body full of light. Either the body is full of light, or it isn't. If a person can walk on water, then the body is full of light, and the source of that light is the individual God Presence, I Am That I Am. And of course, as we all know, the soul's access to the resources of the God Presence is predicated on the soul's complete surrender into the purity of love. And therefore, anyone who demonstrates the ability to walk on water will do so out of the mastery of love itself. And it would be that mastery of love, and not simply the act of walking upon the water, that will provide the magnet of unity that I mentioned before.

      The proof of this is in the history books, such as they are. If the false hierarchy was capable of empowering people to walk on water, you'd see thousands of examples in the history books. They would use that power to draw the children of God into one false church after another. But you don't see that in the history books because the false hierarchy doesn't have that power. And on the more spiritual side of the ledger, while men and woman from all religious traditions have from time to time claimed access to a wide variety of spiritual gifts and graces, the historical record is completely bereft of anyone but Jesus Christ demonstrating the ability to walk on water.

      Therefore, it is perfectly fitting to expect that the individual who presents himself or herself as a candidate for the Office of Spiritual Leader of Church Universal and Triumphant, after having walked the path of initiation set forth by the Ascended Masters for a period of years, would come to that point of fruition, wherein his or her communion with the individual God Presence would so charge the lower vehicles with Light, that this expression of mastery would be the inevitable result.

      I believe that once people fully appreciate what it means to be able to walk upon the water, which the Master makes clear, that this is something way beyond the simple ability to levitate, that they will more fully appreciate the value of establishing this as an essential qualification for the next Spiritual Leader of this Church.

      In regards to the idea, brought up by more than one reader, regarding the fact that neither Mark Prophet nor Elizabeth Clare Prophet exhibited this ability, a passage in scripture comes to mind where Jesus said to his disciples, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." (St. John 14:12). It is mete therefore to expect and demand much greater works from those who follow after the embodied guru.

      Now, let me make it clear, that I am not talking about the qualifications for the Office of the President of this church. Present and future presidents are chosen by the Board of Directors using the criteria they think best, and they should continue to do so. I am talking about the person who will one day take over the place of Spiritual Leadership which Elizabeth Clare Prophet will one day relinquish. We need to prepare for that day. And we need to set a standard that when met, will inspire unity among the many members of this organization.

      Let me say again, as I said in my first letter on this subject, that the one who demonstrates this capacity to walk on water will enjoy a mantle of authority not unlike that which rested upon the shoulders of the one who pulled the sword from the stone so many centuries ago, and who ruled over the round table of old (El Morya as King Arthur). The unifying power of such a demonstration would not only provide a great wave of comfort and healing throughout this organization, but throughout the whole world as well.

      And moreover, because no one on earth has ever demonstrated the ability to walk on water since Jesus Christ demonstrated that ability some 2000 years ago, that demonstrated capacity in the Spiritual Leader of Church Universal and Triumphant will open the door for the conversion of the Christian world enmass to the Teachings of the Ascended Masters.
