The Mission of the
Homeward Bound Journal

By Steven S. Showers, Editor

Homeward Bound - The Journal of Ascended Master Devotion, is an Internet publication devoted to serving the needs of those Children of God who are being awakened to the urgency of the hour, and to the pressing need to take their place within the vanguard of the Aquarian Age. Yes, to those hearts who sense that there is an identity, a nation, and a planet to lift into the light of the Aquarian dispensation, we say, this Journal is here for you.

To this end, current events, and important issues, are discussed within the context of the Path of Initiation, which is the universal framework of soul redemption sponsored and administered by the Ascended Masters, who have, at God's direction, institutionalized, from a heavenly perspective, an orderly process through which the soul can actively work to dismantle the barrier which the soul has created between itself and God, allowing the soul, and the planet as a whole, to be delivered from the prison house of human fear and ignorance, and back into the divinely illumined cathedral of the original Divine Estate from which it fell so long ago.

Personal victory on the Path of Initiation is predicated on right action. Right action is predicated on right choice. Right choice is predicated on right understanding. Right understanding is possible only when an effort is made to link human circumstances with the greater events and processes which frame them. Key among these greater events and processes are the following:

  1) the birth of the soul in the context of a divine civilization. This was a very long time ago in terms of the manner in which time is reckoned on earth.

  2) the history of the soul living within the context of that divine civilization --- again for a very long time before the creation of the physical universe,

  3) the entry of the seed of rebellion into that civilization,

  4) the germination and growth of that seed of rebellion,

  5) the long history of efforts to deal with the rebellion before the physical universe was ever created,

  6) the decision (by God) to move those who had become stained by the psychology of rebellion into a clinical isolation chamber, hermetically sealed to block the further transmission of all pollutants and contaminants, and one designed specifically for the redemption process,

  7) the great work of building that isolation chamber, which is known as the System of Redemption which we know as the physical universe of which the earth is but a very small part,

  8) the awesome project of recruiting and training the staff for service within the System of Redemption,

  9) the establishment of the Path of Initiation within the System of Redemption as that process which gives the soul the opportunity to exercise its freewill in dismantling the barrier the soul has created between itself and God,

  10) the establishment of the System of Multiple Life Opportunity within the context of the System of Redemption, which provides an appropriate cycling of the soul into, and out of, the most concentrated part of the cleansing/redemptive process,

  11) the forced relocation of all souls stained by the psychology of rebellion, out of the greater context of the divine civilization, and into the System of Redemption (known more generically to students of the Bible as the fall of man),

  12) The ongoing panorama of divine life that makes up more than 99.999% of the total activity throughout endless spheres of divine civilization, all of which is proceeding forward at this very moment along the patterns of the divine plan, where entry into the System of Redemption is not a normal or mandatory detour required of any soul who has remained faithful to the divine plan. The System of Redemption is administered by volunteers only, very few of which ever descend into the polluted cauldron of rebellion that characterizes the collective consciousness of embodied humanity.

  13) The history of the administration of the System of Redemption, the System of Multiple Life Opportunity, and the Path of Initiation operating inexorably over an expanse of billions of years, juxtaposed to the trials and tribulations of those souls who were sent here to work out their destiny, and that, in the very midst of all the suffering associated with the ongoing effort by the leaders of the rebellion to promote among the multitudes ignorance and misunderstanding concerning God's purpose and plan.

The psychology of rebellion, in all of its various facets, is the substance that makes up the barrier that still stands between each soul and its Creator. From the very inauguration of the System of Redemption, the goal has been to transmute this substance. From the very inauguration of the System of Redemption, the goal has been to re-open the Pathway of Light, within the regions of conscious awareness, between the soul and God. The Path of Initiation, has always been, and remains to this day, the process that operates within the System of Redemption for the purpose of transmuting that substance, and for the purposes of re-establishing that essential communion.

The barrier, in theory, is quite simple to understand. But in practice, this opaque conglomeration of misqualified energy is a very difficult energy matrix to dismantle. This is because the soul is devotional by nature. One of the main attributes of devotion is tenacity. This is very good when the soul clings to God. But when the devotional nature is subverted, and turned away from God, and turned in the direction of the leaders of the Rebellion, and the philosophy of rebellion they promulgate, the soul will cling to those leaders and their philosophy, as strongly as the soul ever clung to God and Divine Truth.

When devotion to self becomes greater than devotion to God, that is the first subversion, and in the resultant darkness of fear that comes about as the soul loses contact with God, the soul is easily enticed to transfer more of its devotional capacity to those who pose not only as the sympathetic saviors who promise deliverance for the people in exchange for their political allegiance, but more importantly as icons of self-justification, providing the narcotic of false comfort by assuring the people that the source of every problem is located far afield from their own state of mind.

As part of the process of dismantling the barrier between the soul and God, the soul must be weaned from its deeply ingrained sense of allegiance to these rebel leaders and their philosophies. This takes time, but it is essential. Through the tie of allegiance, characterized by sympathies of all colors, the soul ties itself to the greater collective power of the rebellion in its entirety, which in practical terms allows the barrier between the soul and God to be reinforced in each and every instance where the soul might have made some progress in dismantling it.

Keep this forever at the forefront of your mind: Because the devotional nature represents the bulk of the fiber of identity, and because God is interested in salvaging the identity, the errant sympathies that the soul creates through the use of its freewill, can only be undone by an equal and opposite act of freewill.

And therefore, choice is the central arbiter on the Path of Initiation, both at the beginning, and at the ending, and as a result, the drama of life will parade before us the principles of the rebellion embodied in those persons who have for their whole sojourn within the System of Redemption never left off their desire to defeat the goals of God for this system. And they will ask us to follow them. And therefore the soul is presented with a choice. Who will the soul follow? And whose philosophy will the soul enshrine within the fabric of its identity?

And so, life moves on, but the question is, in what direction is life moving? Is life moving in concert with age-old traditions of rebellion, away from God, and into an ever-deeper abyss of disconnection and forgetfulness? Or is life moving in concert with God's desire to bring about not just the reunion of one or two souls with his heart of infinite love and wisdom, but all souls on the planet, and ultimately all souls on every planet across the entire broad expanse of the System of Redemption itself?

And therefore, the goal is before us, and it is worth every bit of our devotion, to participate in the transformation of the earth, to return all cultures, and all peoples into the ineffable radiance of their long-lost divinity, and thereby to establish an outpost of victory from whence great armies of light can then march forth to confront and defeat the psychology of rebellion on other planetary homes where the children of God are still enslaved and entrapped within the machinery of ignorance and despair.

When this purpose-oriented framework of Divine Reality is applied to each issue as it comes before us, it is much easier to understand which decisions are right, and which decisions are wrong, i.e. which decisions lead us closer to the Kingdom of God, and which decisions lead us even farther away, and this knowledge of course can give us much peace in setting our direction in life, and that essentially is the Journal's reason for being. To illuminate the way home for those who still have an affinity for spiritual victory in their hearts.
